Note: This article is about the Advanced Daily Scheduler, which is not activated for all accounts. To find out if you have the Advanced Daily Scheduler enabled, check your Send Page. If the first item on the page says “Advanced Daily Scheduler,” you have it!
If it says “Default Scheduler,” that means the Advanced Scheduler is not activated on your account. You can find information on our normal Daily Scheduler here.
If you don't have the Advanced Scheduler, and it sounds like something you need, please use the chat button in the bottom right of your screen to reach out to our support team, and they can talk to you about activating it.
The Advanced Scheduler
AskNicely’s Advanced Scheduler lets you choose who to send surveys to, and when. You can choose to pick from all your contacts, or laser focus on specific groups depending on your needs. You can also create multiple schedulers to make sure your surveys are getting out to everyone at the right time.
Anatomy of a Scheduler
Let’s start by going over the parts of your scheduler.

- Save/Delete buttons
Add Button (1)
If you need another scheduler, you can create more by clicking the Add button. The new one will appear below your existing scheduler (if any).
Scheduler Name (2)
Each scheduler should have a unique and descriptive name. You can edit the name of a Scheduler by clicking the pencil to the right of the name.
On/Off Switch (3)
Turns the scheduler on or off. You must turn it on to edit it, but you can save changes and turn it back off without triggering the scheduler.
Note: Scheduler changes (including turning it on) take effect at midnight local time, and your surveys will send out based on your settings on the scheduler.
Scheduler Rules (4)
Any specific rules for choosing who gets surveyed by this schedule will be listed here. If there aren’t any rules specified, the scheduler will pull from all active people who meet your contact rules. We’ll talk about rules a little further down.
Max Surveys for This Scheduler (5)
AskNicely will queue up to this number of surveys from the pool of people who meet your contact requirements every time the scheduler runs. If that many people are not available, it will only queue as many as are available.
Custom Template Selector (6)
This will allow you to override the normal survey template assignment and send a specific template to everyone on this scheduler, regardless of what template they would normally receive.
Note: In most cases, it’s not necessary to use this field. This is only necessary if you want to override your normal survey selection.
Days and Time to Send (7)
Choose which days of the week you want this scheduler to send surveys, and the time you want them to be sent. All times will be in the time zone indicated to the right.
Contact Rules (8)
Choose if you want to override your global contact rules and set a different length of time to wait between sending surveys.
Save & Delete Buttons (9)
Always remember to save your changes! Or, if you don’t need this scheduler, click Delete.
By default, the scheduler will not have any rules regarding the pool of possible recipients for a survey other than those eligible under your contact rules. This means that AskNicely will select from anyone regardless of segment, location, and so on.
To limit this schedule to specific people, click Add a rule.
If you’ve configured Workflows already, you’ll notice that the rules here function the same way, including the availability of AND/OR logic. If you want to narrow your schedule to specific groups, you can choose by any data point you track in AskNicely by selecting it in the first dropdown. Choose your operator next.
Similar to the Workflow operator selection, you can choose from several operators. Once you’ve done that, enter the value in the field to the right. If you selected “is empty,” you won’t need to enter a value to the right.
Note: Make sure the value you select matches the value you want to use, including spaces.
To add another condition, click +And. To broaden your selection, you can also add an OR condition by clicking +Or.
To remove a rule, click the X to the right.
As always, remember to save your changes by clicking Save Changes in the bottom right.
Setting Your Scheduler Live (or not!)
As we discussed above, any scheduler that is turned on (or any changes to that scheduler) will take effect at midnight local time automatically. Because of this, if you’re not ready to queue up and send surveys yet, make sure to turn off the scheduler once you’ve changed your surveys.
If you’d ever like to suspend sending surveys from this scheduler, just turn the scheduler off using the toggle in the upper right. Don’t worry, AskNicely will keep your scheduler; it just won’t run it.
If you’d like to set more than one scheduler—for example, if you’d like different schedulers to run for different regions—you can create a new one by clicking Add next to “Advanced Daily Scheduler”
Each of these schedulers will operate independently, so if you only want to turn off one, your others will be unaffected.
